With change can come some unexpected learning curves thrown at us. We totally get it! As you probably noticed, we have migrated over to using Disqus for comments, which is sooooo much better, once you get the hang of it.

Some of you have expressed concerns or troubles signing in to Disqus to leave comments. The first thing you should make sure is that you have  cookies enabled in your browser (Disqus tells you how to check this). If you have problems logging in to Disqus, click here for account help. You can also claim comments you made previously, if you signed up using the same email you used previous on Channeling Erik (click here to see how).

You can still use the WordPress login at the bottom right of the sidebar to use the forum, etc. We’re sorry for the inconvenience of having to have two logins (one for Disqus, one for WordPress) but as long as your browser is handling cookies correctly, you should only have to log in to Disqus once. Repeat visits to the site should recognize your Disqus account “cookie” immediately and you should not have to re-login to write a comment.

All this talk of cookies makes me think of one of the funniest comic strips I’ve ever seen, which I discovered yesterday and giggled endlessly over:

Have a great day and make sure you test out the comments below!

BFMA – on the top right when you click on the forums there are two links that look like this: “Members | Sign In”. ignore the facebook/twitter/yahoo images on the far left hand side. The “Sign in” text link on the far right should be what you use to sign in to the forums.

Unfortunately that has the same outcome…gives me the option to sign in via one of the services and I click then it just goes blank.

    Hi All,

This is how I got registered to comment.

I was already registered with WordPress – not sure if this was necessary anyway – maybe?

    To register with Disqus:
    I went to Disqus.com
Then clicked the button for “Sign Up”

    STEP 1
Under register your site I entered the following details:
Site URL – I put in the Channeling Erik URL
    Site Name: Channeling Erik
    Shortname: Channeling Erik

    STEP 2
Under Primary Moderator I entered the following details:
Username: “insert your chosen username/screen name)
    Password: “insert your chosen password”
Email address: “insert your email address”

A message came up sowing URL already taken – obviously!! So i made a mistake there!

Somehow I got registered anyhow – so the second part of the steps above may be all that is required.

Try just entering the Primary Moderator section and if that fails – try all the steps above.

You will get an email with a link to verify your account/email address.

You can insert a profile picture once registered:
    Press help
Then in the search function type Avatar and upload photo as required.

    Hope this helps :)

Oh I just noticed that … just to the right hand side of the screen at the “Register your site” section – there is a “Create a Commenter Account” option.

Click on this “Create a Commenter Account” option and you can then choose to link your profie with
      - Facebook; or
      - Twitter; or
      - Google; or
      - Sign up with an email address

This may be a better process!!

      Good luck,
      Lesley
