@robert hang in there having just spent 9 months in the hospital with someone-I have some idea of what you endured. ICU and Gitmo seem to implore some of the same tactics. Sleep deprivation, food and water deprivation, noise, lights on 24/7. My friend is with Erik now-your work here is not done yet. Healing prayers to you buddy.

  • Kerrie Aus

    All done. Here’s hoping.

    Dear Robert,

I am glad that you are on the mend and that you will soon be healing ala the Medhus household. The few calls that we have had together were amazing. If it is OK with you I would like to share what you told me concerning that dream I had. I think all the CE family would be blown away by it. You have a very powerful gift my friend. We are all so grateful that you will be around for a few more years to share it with us.

Now, here is some advice for the future. If you hack up a lung, say a good portion of it, I would recommend going to the ER. I highly doubt you can perform your own surgery, but that’s just my opinion.

Let’s just say that ya lose half of the volume of your blood. Ya think, I wonder if I should go to the doctor? I mean, I still half another half left, I will just sleep on it. (wink) I would recommend a visit to your local neighborhood blood bank to get an immediate infusion, but that’s just me.

Hmmm, I just had an ATV land on me. I wonder if I should just lie here waiting for the sun to arise. (ooh, I waxed poetic) Or maybe I should whip out the cell phone and call the good doctor Elisa Medhus. She might just be able to convince her sons to move it off of me. NAH! I am just going to get some shuteye.

Now, remember to illicit all the sympathy that you can while in the Medhus household. Ya gotta moan real loud and ask for all the things that you shouldn’t really have. Like pizza and donuts and candy and chocolate. Ooh chocolate! Ya gotta have chocolate man. What is life without it?

    Love,
    Paul

Yay Robert!!!! So glad to see you’ve been sprung from the klink! I’m looking forward to having a real conversation with you in the near future…Dilaudid (sp?), man that’s some good *#@%!

    Love you lots!

Thanks Ty, Amy, Debbie, and Shannon. :-) i can so relate to ICU and Gitmo! I even used that line a day or so ago! I wish I could say I was outta here, but I’ve still go some sorta infection, so I have to stay a few more days. Not a biggie, as I’ll be out very soon.

Hey Paul, I’ve loved our chats too! You are welcome to share anything ya like…one thing I forgot to mention about that extinct race, they didn’t require one from their own species to reproduce. They had the ability to take organic material from any sufficiently evolved species to create another one of their own. Very cool, indeed.

I’m sooo beat, so nite to everyone! :-)

Poor baby! I’m so disappointed you’re not coming home tomorrow. Gotta figure out why your white cell count is high. Elisa P, I told him to make sure they cultured the central line tip (they removed it) and that they do a midstream clean catch UA and C & S and if febrile, another set of blood cultures. His WBC is 21K. If that’s all negative, I think he should have an abdominal CT to make sure he doesn’t have a subphrenic abscess or some other intra-abdominal infection. They pulled the JP drain but didn’t culture its contents. Any other suggestions? I want him outta there!

ROBERT! If I could I’d run squealing like a little girl up to you and give you a big hug, and then worry that I hugged to hard and hurt you- so, since I can’t, consider this the biggest cyber hug you could ever imagine.

    Dear Robert and Everyone,

I shared an eerie dream that I had with Robert last week. I would guess I had this dream over a year ago. I remember that in this dream I was in a house that seemed spooky. The lighting was dim and I felt a little freaked out. As I walked through the house I came to a little landing with about three or four steps.

All of a sudden a creature emerged and showed himself to me. Now, being that I was already freaked out, I woke up screaming. The strange thing was that I got a really good look at him.

This creature was completely blue from head to toe. As Robert confirmed this creature had the shade of a deep navy blue. He looked a lot like Aladdin from the animated film. He had a tuft of blue skin protruding from the top of his head and curling upwards.

Now, here is the kicker my friends. I looked at his face as I screamed and there was regret there. I could feel or sense from his facial expression that he did not want to scare me, he simply wanted to introduce himself to me. I knew that this being was not malevolent, he was a beneficent creature.

So, I relate this dream to Robert and this creature comes through to him. He told Robert that their race was now extinct. They were very spiritual, but naive. When they grew to a certain point technologically they began to move among the stars. Even though they were beautiful and peaceful creatures, some of those that they contacted were not. These malevolent creatures caused their physical extinction, but they now live in spirit. They also communicated telepathically.

Robert related that this spirit person found other creatures attractive as a result of stripes that ran down their backs. There were also a sharing of the birth process. Males and females could have children. It did not matter if they were both males or both females or male, female. They were capable of producing children whether male or female. Now, after these children were born they would be raised in a communal setting. By the way, this creature called themselves Veo la Creux. Don’t have a clue what that means.

This spirit person said that their race was from a galaxy about four or five galaxies removed from our Milky Way. Cool! If there is anything that I forgot Robert, please fill in the blanks.

Just think of this my friends. We are so different on this earth, but we are all human beings. If we cannot get along with the disparate human beings that populate this planet then how will we get along with a myriad of alien creatures and varieties unimaginable? This earthly sojourn is teaching us that we should love one another unconditionally despite our differences. Then when we are introduced to these disparate creatures we will already have learned how to love one another no matter what. We will then have love in our hearts for them.

Now, there is a possibility that we just might freak out some aliens. Ya know what I mean? Especially first thing in the morning. Aggghhh! Or is it Gagggg! I feel sorry for those poor unsuspecting aliens when they lay their eyes on this mug. Maybe we will both run away screaming until we get used to each other. It is like I always say, se la vie.

    Love,
    Paul

    sneak preview-
@elise that is weird but I am techno challenged.

    here is a sneak preview

After recently being the sole caregiver to my boyfriend who passed to the otherside on January 3, 2011 I had an entirely new understanding of illness, death and dying. Sadly, Keith battled leukemia unsuccessfully. In retrospect, I think that instead of buying into the medical system expecting a cure, we would have been better off preparing for his death.

Survivors think of death as a loss, doctors view it as failure. As a culture we invest billions of dollars to avoid death at all costs. I think it is time for a shift of perception. Just as we plan for other major life events be it the birth of a baby, retirement or a wedding, we should take the time to prepare for our own death.

I am not just talking about assuring that your paperwork is in order and your end of life and funeral preferences are known-althought trust me those things should not be overlooked.

What I am talking about is taking stock of your life. What is left undone, unsaid, unresolved.

Here is an exercise to get you started. Write the eulogy you would like someone to read at your funeral service. It can be a total fabrication. When you are done, use those white lies as goals and take stock of what you would like to do to help make that eulogy come to life.

Now this concept can also be used as a tool to evaluate your relationships. We have all heard of people who have died suddenly and loved ones were at odds with the deceased or hadn’t said certain things. Preparing for death be it your own or that of a loved one or familar members will eliminate the words “if only….”

You’re a very talented writer, Amy! I read the entire entry and I want to become a registered user but when I click “register” it doesn’t work. Congratulations, sweetie. Spreading love, wisdom and enlightenment one entry at a time! This will hopefully also help you with any grief issues you may have now or eventually.

Paul: The blue sounds a lot like Avatar, and I’d bet the use of it for the characters in that movie is not a complete coincidence. Your description of why we cannot get along – we mostly DO get along – however our human habit is to publicize the bad. How many people own chainsaws? How many people use them to attack others? The answers are “I dunno” and “What?!?!?” (or WTF as Sarah Palin might blog) but reality is that there are many of them, as manufacturers will attest. Just let one owner of a chainsaw use it for an attack; that will lead the evening news in every city.
Years ago I lived in a very orthodox Muslim nation…they are not that different from us, but those differences are boldfaced at every step – nothing wrong or inaccurate about that, however where do we ever see a similarity described? Thank you.
We get along as a global community better than ever and we do an even better job of highlighting every divergent detail to the third power.

grief eventually =BINGO my circumstances are exactly the opposite of yours-in your case you are like why-in my case it is like what took so long-but it has to come sooner or later. Times they are a changing-this group here is open to the change-others out there might be digging their heels in a bit as 2012 and all associated with that creeps up. Love to all
