Channeling Erik

Erik has made a small request. He feels like the last several posts have been a little (okay, a lot) on the heavy side, and he says it’s time for a bit of lighthearted fun. Blog member, Dan sent me a hilarious YouTube video this week, and apparently Erik loved it so much, he wants me to share it with you all, beyond just putting it on my Facebook wall. But, he has one condition. See yourself as the little kitty and the tennis ball as life. This is what we look like when we’re scared of life, yet we all have the courage to plow ahead in spite of our fear. For that, he is very proud. So, he wants us to play with the ball, tap it, roll it, play hide and seek with it, embrace it, revel in its brightness, marvel at its fuzziness and find joy in doing all of these. After all, it ain’t going anywhere anytime soon, and it doesn’t disappear when we hide behind the furniture.

There is joy in life just as there is in a simple tennis ball. Sure, sometimes when it gets batted back to us we swing and miss. Sometimes it whacks us in the head. Sometimes we take it much too seriously. Sometimes we lose our focus. Sometimes we stumble, fall and skin our knees. But it’s still a lovely game where everyone wins, at the very least in the pleasure of moving along with its rhythm. Plus, since we’re all in the game, we’re in good company. Thanks, Dan! Now, everyone enjoy the video and the glorious and joyful game of life.

Too funny!! Thanks Dan, Erik and Elisa. So, as I am watching this video, my 6 yr old boxer mix runs from my office to the living room and runs back with her one and only toy in her mouth, a stuffed hedgehog that squeaks. She is biting it to make it squeak, throwing it up in the air and jumping all over the bed with the toy in her mouth. Might not seem strange to you guys, BUT she only plays with this toy when myself or someone else comes in the front door. And she doesnt really play with it, she just has it in her mouth when she meets you at the door. It’s as if SOMEONE

  • Debbie B

sorry, somehow hit enter and my comments posted before I was done. Anyway, it’s as if SOMEONE called her into the other room and got her playing with her toy. BTW- as soon as the video was over she stopped playing. Hummmmmm, wonder who else is at play here???? : )

LOL, Debbie B!!!! I bet it was John!!

  • Susan

That was adorably cute…..I laughed the whole way through that. I love Kittens and Cats, can’t get enough of them. Yes, we all need to play more :-)

I love it. Thanks so much. I needed this.
I was just thinking yesterday that life is all about fear and facing it. When you think of it fear is the opposite of love, so to truly love we have to embrace and conquer fear.

Oh that kitten is sooo cute. I love when they prance sideways like that. And to Tony, I also have a cat that fetches those little jingle balls or little superballs. My other kitty just likes to lose those little mouse toys under my refrigerator.

    Hello,

WAY TOO CUTE!!!. I love cats. Got two myself. I love watching them bouce around. Or how when chasing each other around the house, it sounds like a bunch of horses “Thump, thump, thump, thump”, and then you hear a crash as one of them can’t stop in time and hits a box, door or something else. Moses, in the apartment where we first got them, he loved to run, but didn’t know how to stop on tile. He would hit the kitchen floor and just slide until the wall stopped him. Was too funny. The both of them prefered the stairs. I tacked a black cloth on the back side of a deck of open stair case. They would climb to the top of the stairs, go through the stairs to the cloth, and slide down the cloth like a slide. Couldn’t help but laugh. I just love animals. :)

    Hello,

Well, I wasn’t going to bring that part up, but since Debbie B opened the door, I love how animals have the ability to see spirits. Spirits must seem to prefer haging out near the ceiling because my cats are forever watching spirits move along the ceiling. And thinking about it, what better place to watch what’s going on that at the ceiling line! For me my two cats are like confirmation. I can feel when a spirit is near me/in the room, but having my cats look right at where I feel them is like a “yep, that’s a spirit” kind of thing. Too bad we all can’t retain the ability to see spirits so clearly as children and animals. Animals are great! Although I am bias to cats…lol

OK, Erik, here’s a funny story for you from my dear Scottish Granny, who’s been in Spirit for a long time:

A young man was taking his sweetheart out for a buggy ride but, unfortunately, the horse had fed well that day and was making ‘rude noises’ all through the jaunt. Naturally, the young suitor was worried about what his darling girl would think. So he summoned up his courage as he helped her down at the end of the ride and said, ‘I really must apologise for those awful noises.’

‘That’s all right,’ she said very sweetly with a smile. ‘I thought it was the horse!’
