Channeling Erik

My younger sister, Laura, is one of the best cooks I have ever known. She thrives on nurturing others, healing and sending love in the way of food. Every Christmas, she bakes around 200 dozen cookies that are so freaking delicious that I secretly think she laces them with crystal meth. Just saying’. In fact, several of her lucky recipients knock at her door the day after getting their high calorie gift to ask if they can order ten more tins.

I suggested to her that she should start a cookie business of her own and, after reviewing all of the laws and regulations, she has decided to do just that. I told her I would help her as a humble pair of extra hands, and so she decided to call her enterprise, “Two Sisters Treats,” at least for now.

I asked Erik yesterday if he thought this was a good idea and he replied:

“God yes. She’ll start out small and will eventually create a multi-million dollar company.”

After the session, I drove to McD’s to get my usual Diet Dr. Pepper (to save my calorie allowance for those addictive cookies of hers). I had to use Michelle’s car, because Rune was borrowing mine. His truck is in the shop for an oil leak. Now, I always pay with a credit card. Always. It’s been over a decade since I used cash to buy my morning drink. In fact, I had my credit card in my had while I was waiting in line at the drive in.

For some reason, I was drawn to the collection of money in Michelle’s coin holder. “I’ll use her coins to pay this time.” Now, that’s a warped idea since she’s as poor as a church mouse, but nonetheless, I put my credit card back in my wallet and plucked the first two coins out of the spring-loaded coin dispenser. Two nickels. Something (or someone) compelled me to look at the dates (something I haven’t done in years,) and guess what they were? The first was 1956, my sister’s birth year, and the second one was 1955, my birth year. It’s not very common to see coins as old as Methuselah (and me).

Was this a message from Erik that we–the two sisters–need to work together on this endeavor, her as the head, the mastermind, and me as the loyal minion? You be the judge.

Two Sisters

    • http://www.channelingerik.com Elisa Medhus, MD

Plus cookies are an inexpensive but heartfelt gift! It nourishes the heart and soul! (especially hers!)

  • AmyPal

    Had to comment on this.

Erik IS watching out for you. This business can’t help but succeed with that kind of influence. Shall we all vote on his official title? Vice President of F@#$ing Development?

This seems like such a great thing. If only I lived closer, I’d be directing everyone I know to your store…

    • http://www.channelingerik.com Elisa Medhus, MD

HAHA!! I’m just going to be helping Laura. I’m not really part of the business but I sooo want her to succeed. I guess Erik does too!

  • Mary

I love the two nickel story; Erik is involved for sure! How wonderful to be doing something with your sister. I am sure you will have great success. The title is perfect.

  • Patrick

Of COURSE it’s a message! I always get dimes…(10¢ coins) that pop up just like yours. Well…….tick, tock, tick, tock….two nickels are 5¢ + 5¢ = 10 cents! I’m getting that it’s a Guardian Angel message. The name “Two Sisters Treats” is terrific. Just my 2¢…

  • mike m

      • Ash

  • amy cavanaugh

i love the pennies from heaven-just fear one will hit me in head-never get any either-just tv’s off-ovens on. From all my research the post 2012 business that will thrive are ones that are borne of love not greed-ladys get those aprons on and may you all be blessed with wonderful visions of ghosts of Christmas past-it is a wonderful life even though seats are empty at the dining table.

My sister has never been in that car in her life. It’s my daughter’s car and the only reason I drove it was because my husband’s truck was in the shop, so it was actually the first time I’ve ever driven that car.

Sorry, I guess I didn’t read the post good enough I though you were in your sister’s car.

      • http://www.channelingerik.com Elisa Medhus, MD

I live to confuse people! (Misery loves company!)

  • HSB

I instantly got a warm and happy feeling when I read this. The coins are most definitely a sign from above. What an exciting new adventure!

  • AmyPal

Love your take on this! And, to encourage his compliance, he could be promoted to: “VP of Fetid Odor Control.” (I fear he won’t be able to control himself, however, and there might be a demotion in his future).

    • http://www.channelingerik.com Elisa Medhus, MD

      LOL!!!!!

  • Sdbugarin

Elisa when are you coming to Sacramento or San Francisco????

    • http://www.channelingerik.com Elisa Medhus, MD

I think Jamie is going there for a CE event in the summer so I’ll come, of course, God willing and the creek don’t rise!

  • http://www.channelingerik.com Elisa Medhus, MD

I don’t know! I’lll ask my sis to send you some samples. She’s giving out CHristmas tins full as presents and people in her apartment complex totally FREAKED! A few of them came to her door and asked to have ten more tins!

  • http://www.channelingerik.com Elisa Medhus, MD

Really, I think you die form whatever you believe you’ll die from. I really should stop but after I read a study that showed that of the 10,000 things they studied, only apricot yogurt didn’t cause cancer in rats and I hate apricot yogurt so I’m sticking with my diet soda.

  • http://www.channelingerik.com Elisa Medhus, MD

I’ll ask my sis if she’s send you some!

  • Lisa

My guestimate is Yes! A sign from Erik. Those are the kinds of signs I get when I’m making decisions or ask for a sign. One day, after my near death experience (when I saw my twin brother who had committed suicide) I asked him if he could do something to let my husband know he’s here. For some reason, I told him I just want him to do something fun, just to let him know. I had forgotten I asked and never said anything to my husband, then when we were sitting by the creek that afternoon, all of a sudden my husband excitedly yelled out, “Hey, look at this!” Instantly I knew it was my twin. My husband came over showing me two rocks he found on either side of the creek that matched perfectly, fitting together like a glove as though they had somehow broken apart and were now being brought back together. He could not believe, not only that they fit, but how randomly he had picked them up, one right after another, from either side of the creek- when the creek is filled with millions of rocks, and those two were the only ones he picked up. The two coins feel like the same thing. A simple sign “two” scent up homes with the magic and love of baked cookie treats! I love your name, “Two Sisters Treats” and I definitely want to buy some when they are for sale! If they’re a hit, I would love to purchase some when I start doing retreats for people dealing with ptsd, depression, and anxiety who want a fun, creative, spiritual way to bring joy back into their lives.

    • http://www.channelingerik.com Elisa Medhus, MD

What a great story, Lisa! Did you take a picture of the two rocks? And can you tell us more about how you help those with PTSD? XOXO

  • Stanley

    Hello Elisa,

That’s awsome that you and your sister are starting a company. Everyone loves cookies. Any any side way to make ends meet helps. Right now, I have two pieces of furniture I designed. I don’t build them, but I sell the instructions/blue prints for making them. And for those who are incontinent like me, I sell ashesive printed designs to put on either the plastic backed diapers or plastic pants. I hated the plain peach color. Not that I show em off of course, but I like something different. I don’t make a whole lot of money, but I get a order here, order there that help meet my expenses. So yea, go bake them cookies and put me down for a tin. :) And as for the nickles, hell yea that’s a sign if I ever saw one. :)

Well, she’s starting the company; I’m just going to be her slave!

    • http://www.channelingerik.com Elisa Medhus, MD

Heck no! I saved them forever!

  • http://www.channelingerik.com Elisa Medhus, MD

I greatly admire ANYONE who has the courage to take the leap of faith that small business owners do. To me, that’s a real accomplishment!

  • http://www.channelingerik.com Elisa Medhus, MD

That’s a deal! You make the BEST!!!! Those you brought disappeared in minutes! I was lucky to get one.

  • http://www.channelingerik.com Elisa Medhus, MD

I couldn’t be more proud of you–refusing to take on the life as a victim and, instead, turning challenge into hope. Love you!

I love the coins. My father (who collected silver half dollars when he was in this world) left me one with my birth year. I was walking into a store, lost in thought, and a reflection on the ground caught my eye. As I was leaning over to pick it up, a thought popped into my head out of nowhere ,”I bet my birth year is on this.” Sure enough, it was. This happened during a difficult week in my life and I had been thinking about him and talking to him a lot in my prayers and dreams. When something like this happens, it is not just a coincidence.

    • http://www.channelingerik.com Elisa Medhus, MD

Aw! I bet it was your guardian angel giving you love and support!!

I love this story!!! Go for it sisters!!! Please make them availble for super fast delivery to the UK…first customer waiting over here ;-) . I think it’s a wonderful idea to use her talent and do something she enjoys.

  • Lindsey

Yes! I think it was! I get messages wrapped in numbers ALL the time! Clocks and license plate numbers, especially. As if to say, “Yes! You’re on the right track!” or when I get a lot of 1′s such as 11:11, it seems to be a reminder that we are all one and connected.

  • http://www.channelingerik.com Elisa Medhus, MD

Glad you’re better! I had fun Skyping with you!

    • Tracy Lamont

Me too. So nice to actually speak with you, face to face. We could almost be in the same room together.
And my dogs were quite taken with you too, so, hey you’re practically family now!!!
I know the boys were then when we did that… :)

      • http://www.channelingerik.com Elisa Medhus, MD

I know! One of them even showed off his toy!
