Channeling Erik

Here’s a clip of Erik as a young child just after the birth of his brother, Lukas, who is now 17 years old. In the video, you can clearly see Erik’s loving and sweet nature. Plus, you will bear full witness to the zoo that is the Medhus Family. Watch and weep at the craziness that is my world!

Also in this clip is my now deceased younger sister, Denise, who, like me, tends to videotape with annoyingly excessive commentary. ;-)

Ahhhhhhh….Elisa, thank you for taking the time to send us your family video of the new baby. You are right, Erik is so tender and sweet to the baby…amazing for such a young boy.

It must be very difficult for you to watch this video and at the same time, I am sure it is most joyous.

What sweet, wonderful children you have and how difficult it must be to see Erik as the vibrant, caring little boy in the video who is no longer with you.

It broke my heart to watch it. To try to even attempt to understand your pain and loss is impossible.

Thank you again for sharing this special moment with us. You are such a giving person.

Love to you and all your family.

It took me a long time to even look at the old videos. He was so happy and sweet and, yes, mischievous back then. To look at that sweet face and imagine what was to be in store for him (and our family) is still difficult and incomprehensible to me. It makes me sad to watch it, but it also makes me glad that he had the many happy years that he did.

My daughter was born about 1 month after this video was taken. My daughter spent 4 1/2 months in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit…so this video brings back a lot of memories, all good, as that daughter is now starting her junior year in high school. I had a lifetime’s worth of hospital visits in 1992 and this was nice to see. Thank you!

“Take off the blanket so I can see his butt.” That was hilarious! :)

YES! I want pictures of everyone and their family so I know who I’m thinking about, talking to, and telling Erik who to visit!

Awwww. Too cute! What loving children. I couldn’t get into this yesterday. What a treat. Thanks for sharing, Elisa. And thanks to Michele for her work on this site.

I love that Michelle was getting out of the closet and Erik asking for me to take off the blanket so he could see Lukas’ butt. My kids are all so wonderfully different and fun.

    Hello Elisa,

That is a very cute video. So few families record such a special day. Eric is very cute though. I was just joking with Erik out loud. It’s embarrassing enough when mom breaks out the pictures to show everyone, now she’s got videos! LOL. Too cute though. Thanks for showing it.

Maybe he wanted to be sure he hadn’t actually gotten “stuck” with another sister! LOL. My grandson wants a sister because most of his friends have a sister, but boy, he sure loves his cousin Brendan.

Ha!!! That’s true! He was overwhelmed by estrogen fumes.

Absolutely loved this Elisa! Made me cry to know what was to come but at the same time know you must be grateful for memories such as these!

It is great that you have this! It would be breaking my heart, but on the flip side, many families (my own included) never have videos of things like this. What a blessing, and cute kiddos!

Oh, Elisa, that was so beautiful!!! Thanks so much for sharing.

Thank you for sharing this video of your beautiful family. I could immediately see the grown Erik I’ve seen in his eyes as a little boy. In the videos you’ve sent me of adult Erik, his eyes really impacted me. I can always see them in my mind. I always see a person’s soul coming out of their eyes. What a beautiful family you have Elisa! What joy they must bring you!

That video was so moving. It made me cry. What beautiful children you have. They seem to grow in the blink of an eye, don’t they?
I have to send you a picture of Adam aged 3 years. I swear he is Erik’s double. How weird is that?
It’s just as well we don’t know what life has in store for us. Watching that lovely home movie and hearing your sister’s loving comments, you would have no idea of the heartache to come.
Those images of your lovely wee ones will stay with me for a long time.

      Too true, Tracy.
